Beckenham's Night of Honour

People often ask us why we do Beckenham's Night of Honour and what it's all about, so I thought I'd use this first blog to explain.

At Citygate Church we believe in "loving people". In our values it states that we "honour people of all ages and from all walks of life and ethnicity, resisiting exclusivity and bad attitude like the plague." So what does that look like? Well it means that whoever walks through the doors on a Sunday is guaranteed a warm welcome but it's more than that and it's not just limited to those that are part of Citygate. We know that there are so many great people in our community that deserve a huge thank you for all that they are doing. So we started Beckenham's Night of Honour.

Now in it's 7th year, we throw a great party to honour 10 people who have been nominated by the community in recognition of all they do.

We open nominations in the springtime and ask the public to tell us about their unsung heroes. These nominations are then put before a judging panel who short list winners for each award. In the autumn we roll out the red carpet, chill the champagne, polish the awards and lay on some great entertainment as we reveal the winners for that year.

So if you want to be involved in this year's celebrations why not put in a nomination and let us know who you think is worthy of a Beckenham's Best Award for 2013!
